The GovStack Deep Dive in Jordan
The GovStack Deep Dive in Jordan, held on November 6-7, 2024, was a major milestone in the roadmap of advancing Jordan’s digital public services. This two-day workshop welcomed key stakeholders from the Jordanian government to engage in deep discussions on building digital infrastructure and services. The event aimed to align Jordan’s digital transformation with global best practices through GovStack’s Building Blocks, offering a unique opportunity to explore new e-government solutions.
We opened the deep dive with welcoming remarks by Mrs. Ahlam Jadallah – the Director of the Software Development and Digital Systems Department at the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Jordan. Followed by welcoming words from representatives of the Project Management and Implementation Office; and the Digital Transformation Unit, Prime Ministry of Jordan.
GovStack provided a high-level introduction to the GovStack framework by emphasizing its role in transforming digital public services. GovStack experts introduced the GovStack approach to enterprise architecture by showcasing how it aligns with Jordan’s digital transformation goals. Participants learned how they can reference GovStack’s Building Blocks (BBs) to streamline and support the development of e-government solutions in Jordan, enabling more efficient and scalable implementation of digital services across various sectors.
The Jordan deep dive included numerous presentations regarding enterprise architecture, Digital Public Infrastructure, and user centric service design. A major highlight were the breakout sessions focusing on the practical applications of GovStack, which was showcased by hands on activities and the prototyping of a high school certificate use case. Participants applied both UX/UI guidelines and GovStack templates. These real-world exercises were another step to train architects on the GovStack approach for future E-government implementation. Other notable moments were presentations on Building Blocks as well as a presentation on cloud infrastructure and how it can be best leveraged for E-Government. By the end of the two-day workshop, participants left with a clearer understanding of how to utilize GovStack Building Blocks and templates for Jordan’s digital transformation.
Much was achieved on a practical application of GovStack. Jordan has already made significant strides in Digital Transformation, so there wasn’t a need to reinvent the wheel. Jordan will however make significant use of the GovStack specifications and UX/UI design elements. With the knowledge gained from this workshop, participants can now make use of GovStack’s reusable Building Blocks—such as Registries, Cloud Infrastructure, and Enterprise Architecture—to design and implement government services more efficiently.
