Egypt Digitalizing Public Health with GovStack Partnership
The Egyptian Government is on a mission to digtalise the public sector as part of its overall vision to Digital Egypt 2030 and to that end GovStack is proud to partner with the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT) in a pilot use-case to build the government’s Universal Health Insurance Citizen-Engagement Application. The pilot use-case will adopt GovStack specifications and building blocks (e.g. on ID, Information Mediator and Consent) which will once again prove to facilitate interoperability and reusability to the highest international standards. It is important to note that this pilot application is of high impact and would affect the everyday lives of each Egyptian Citizen.
On Wednesday the 28th of February 2024, the first design thinking sprint workshop took place, spearheaded by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), Egypt in collaboration with MCIT partners, Ministry of Health & Population – Egypt, Ministry of Finance | Egypt and Universal Health Insurance Authority – UHIA. This event marked resounding success and had a fruitful outcome where partner entities agreed to streamline the access of citizens to medical records prescriptions and more. During the workshop participants were immersed in citizen-engagement and citizen-centric approaches where they shared their view of features that would make the digital access and engagement of the Egyptian citizen of the national health sector seamless and effective. The application will aim to elevate the overall healthcare system by improving the data sharing processes and thus increasing efficiency.
This use-case prototype will be later integrated with Egypt’s new Health care platform that is fully developed based on and aligned with the Govstack approach and building blocks. This platform is the fourth in row of the reengineered public sector platforms (AHMOSE Project) that are being designed and developed following the Govstack approach (since Egypt has joined the Govstack global project in 2022).
This will be the first of many activities which will roll out in 2024. Following the workshop, GovStack Egypt team is currently finalizing the scope of the prototype, kickstart the process and design the implementation plan.
